Mrs. Danae Redick is the new Choir Director and General Music Teacher for grades 5-12 at La Crescent Middle and High School, entering her sixth year of teaching. She holds a Master of Music Education from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and a Bachelor of Music Education from Lee University. In 2022-2023, Danae was a Fulbright grantee to Hungary, where she studied at the prestigious Liszt Academy of Music Kodály Institute and earned a diploma in music pedagogy. Her passion for music education is rooted in her own experiences as a student, and she is committed to creating meaningful musical opportunities for her students. Outside of teaching, Danae is an avid outdoors enthusiast who enjoys long-distance backpacking, hiking, camping, canoeing, and recently, cycling. She enjoys learning to watercolor botanicals while drinking a good latte. Danae’s teaching is driven by her deep care for her students. She finds joy in witnessing their engagement with new music and meaningful texts, and she strives to create the same kind of transformative experiences that shaped her own career. Through music, she hopes to build a sense of community and personal growth in her students, encouraging them to find their own voice while fostering confidence and creativity. She is excited to contribute to the district and community by cultivating a vibrant, inclusive environment where students feel inspired and valued.
